“I don´t have the technical skills to do this”

Before embarking on a whole new adventure or perhaps a whole new career direction, ask yourself this:

Have you always had the skills you have right now? Is there something you know this day, that you didn´t know one year ago? Or a new skill set that you have acquired?

Like the great Michael Jordan once said:

“I´ve failed over and over again in my life… and that is why I succeed”

One of the most common fears of getting started with online business is fear of not having the technical skills.

And you know what, that is perfectly fine and understandable.

Let me tell you this: I have been close to throwing my computer out of the window more than once from the frustration of not succeeding with the technical stuff.

But in the end, I realize that I have to fail sometimes in order to succeed. On the journey, I have learned from my mistakes and become successful.

With limited skills I have learnt to build websites very quickly with the help and guidance of people with this skills.

Leaving your comfort zone every now and again will only make you grow as a person. In the beginning, it will probably be a bit uncomfortable. But if you trust the process and focus on the task, it´s amazing what you can accomplish.

The importance of technical skills

So, all this talk about technical skills.. Are they really that important?

Yes.

Why?

If you want to work online, it probably says itself that EVERY day this is gonna be required.

And there are two ways to do it. Either you acquire this skill yourself. Or, you pay someone else to do it for you. Of course this can be an option. An expensive one, but still an option.

Stay in control

The negative outcome though is, that you are not going to be in control of your own destiny. Always depending on someone else.

If I was to work in another country where people speak another language, I could pay for an interpreter. I won´t have to spend that time and energy learning another language, and I can focus on other stuff.

Sure, that is one alternative. But how do I know everything he or she translates is correct? And with the same tone and emphasise that I would like to get my point across?

I think the same principle applies here as in getting a new set of skills, to be able to effectively run your own online business. Only, that will be much more simple for you.
